History of KPL Packaging S.p.A.

1960 Wrapmatic S.p.A. is established in Calderara di Reno (Bologna), producing many kinds of packaging machines. Main products are folio-size ream wrapping machines and complete lines for pallet handling.
1963 First Wrapmatic Automatic Ream Wrapper for cut-size reams and first packaging machine for tissue toilet rolls.
1964 Cassoli S.r.l. is established in Bologna, for the production of tissue packaging machinery.
1990 E.C.H. Will GmbH, part of the Körper Group, acquires Wrapmatic S.p.A.
1994 The Körber Group acquires Cassoli S.r.l. in Bologna (Italy). Establishment of Casmatic S.p.A. in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna) by combining Cassoli and the tissue packaging sector of Wrapmatic S.p.A. Casmatic manufactures fully automatic machines and packaging systems for wrapping all types of rolls and folded products.
1995 Structural reorganization of the Körber Group into three divisions: Tobacco Technology, Paper and Tissue Technology and Machine Tools. The Paper and Tissue Division is named PapTis Holding GmbH.
1998 Innopack is established in Calderara di Reno (Bologna) as the Group Engineering Centre, to develop new packaging technologies for tissue and paper markets.
1999 Renaming of PapTis Holding GmbH to Körber PaperLink GmbH: Paper, Tissue and Hygiene Technology.
2003 Establishment of KPL Packaging S.p.A. in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna) from the companies Casmatic, Innopack and Wrapmatic.
2004 KPL Packaging moves into new facilities in Calderara di Reno (Bologna), renovating and expanding onto the original Wrapmatic plant.
2005 At the Fabio Perini S.p.A. facilities, Tissue World Nice 2005 and the “Innovation TIME after TIME” Open House see presentation of the new Casmatic A5T and Casmatic S35. Attended by more than 300 visitors from all over the world.

At the Miac Show 2005 and the open house, in conjunction with the fair, the Casmatic T100 is presented – the first tissue rolls wrapper for medium productivity needs.
2006 Concept X™ series, dedicated to emerging markets, receives highly favorable reviews at the Asian Paper show in Bangkok. The product range of the Körber PaperLink companies attracted widespread interest from visitors. Participation at the event by Körber Engineering Shanghai.

In June the city of St. Petersburg hosts the first Tissue Systems Symposium, a convention organized by Fabio Perini S.p.A., KPL Packaging S.p.A., Perini Engraving S.r.l., Andritz AG, Henkel and Diatec S.r.l.. The symposium, which focuses on markets in Russia and the CIS countries, takes place during the Petersburg Tissue Show, with guests participating in open houses Skol and Syassky companies.

At open house events, the Fold Division of Fabio Perini S.p.A. and KPL Packaging S.p.A. present the new Casmatic CMF 150 napkin wrapper in line with an 8.5 folder by Fabio Perini, and the Casmatic CMF 200 napkin wrapper in line with the folder 8.7 Advanced model .
2007 The Wrapmatic product line is taken over by the Körber PaperLink company Pemco Inc., Sheboygan, Wisconsin (USA).

Tissue World 2007 – Fabio Perini S.p.A., KPL Packaging S.p.A., Perini Engraving S.r.l. and Winkler+Dünnebier AG present a Gallery of Innovations. Over 2000 visitors at the booth.

Over 300 people attend the “Lucca Event: WHAT A NICE PAPER” at Fabio Perini S.p.A., where five complete production lines (converting and packaging) demonstrate the converting of industrial rolls, household towels, toilet rolls and napkins.

CUBE EVENT – In November 2007 several new packaging machines are presented to customers at the KPL Packaging plant: Casmatic CUBE, the first rolls wrapper able to produce 3-layer roll packs, CMW 200 for small count packs, and Casmatic S15, a new bundler for medium productivity needs.
